Video Response: TED - Don Norman on 3 ways good design makes you happy.
I believe emotions really affect the things we see and things we do and also, our creativity level.
One example is looking at painting of sad emotion and painting of happy emotion. Can you see the differences in them?

Not only that, audience will actually feel the emotions too. this is how wonderful design and emotions works. you can actually bring your emotions to the world through design.
Recalling on brainstorming session we did before, i had good results when i felt happy and motivated. i was able to have streams of ideas coming in, on the other hand, while i was feeling tired and unhappy, i couldn’t get good ideas.

Now look at this product, it is mouse shaped like eggs. I kinda feel happy and excited when i look at it and i will definitely want to get one. this is how design can evoke our emotions.
Week 1 Task: Part 2
10 facts about creativity:
- is about reacting to our environment
- it serves a purpose by seeing flaw and fix them
- is about having them in your mind and get them out
- it is anything that is new and useful for a time e.g. new creations
- it’s not only the geniuses who are creative
- we are all creative in our own ways and creative style
- creativity can be learned, it is not a gift!
- creativity is practical and real
- solid, practical solutions involve creativity too
- everyone has creative abilities, the more training your have, the greater is your potential
- an average adult thinks of 3-6 ways alternatives for any given situation but an average child thinks of 60 (wow! i should start behaving like a child)

Week 1 Task : Part 1
C) Draw/Write your responses to the following, as you answer these questions:
i) What is Imagination/Creativity? (Please provide your own definition, write down as much as you know about these terms. How do they relate to design? Has your conception of creativity changed since coming into SD?
In my opinion, Imagination/Creativity is to be able to think out of the box, having unique thoughts different of others, having ideas people will be attracted to, think out of all logics and rules. They are related to design as we need unique graphics/ideas to be able to attract the audience; something audience never experienced/seen before. I think my conception of creativity remained the same after coming in SD.
ii) Do you think you are creative? Why/Not? Please explain in more detail (reflect on your creative process in Sem 1 while going through the Common Foundation courses) to answer this.
Personally i don’t think i’m creative because i’m always lack of ideas. Usually, i have to take a look at a design and improvise from it or i have to browse the web for photos to generate my ideas. Normally i have to take a long time to have a creative idea. Also, i tends to follow logics and rules. I need order and such. That’s why i think that i’m not really creative.
iii) What were the last 3 creative things you did? Describe in some detail, and provide criteria why it was creative. If you have not done anything creative recently, please say more about why that is so.
Making a photo book from scratch using cloth relevant to the theme. Drawing and came out with a butterfly logo representing myself. I think my poster for Graphic Communication during Common Foundation was quite creative?
iv) Do you think Creativity can be taught/and learned? Why/Not?
I think that creativity can be learnt. Perhaps by how you can learn to generate ideas by looking at some shapes or colours; by visual/sense of sight. Another one may be through sense of hearing.
v) What is your general gameplan for improving your Creativity? Please explain some possible goals and directions you have in mind. How can this class help you specifically.
Learning different ways of how I can generate ideas through different perspectives.
